I received my pair of Plantronics .Audio 770 headsets to test out and first thing I noticed is that they're big. Well, at least they looked big, but when you take it out of the box, you realise its just about right.

Because I have glasses, wearing headsets can be a pain when they crush my ears into the frame of my glasses. This is where these headsets shine; the ear cups are big enough to fit around the whole ear so my ears don't get crushed in.
However, make sure you adjust your glasses to fit before putting them on as they will hold the frame tight against the side of your head, which you won't start to feel until later on.
Although it was comfortable to wear in that sense, I had to position them so that my ear would be at a corner. My ears don't stick out that much, but enough to be rubbing against the hard grills. Pulling them to a corner prevented this, whilst still being comfortable to wear for a duration of time.

Although the .Audio 770 is big in physical size, it is quite light. I was able to wear it for a couple of hours without any problems. But to its design, my head started to feel heavy afterwards.

As a gamer, surround sound is important and surround sound headsets can be costly. Being able to hear where my opponent is coming from provides enormous advantage when playing games such as player first person shooter (FPS) games. These headsets specify that they virtualise 3D audio; I put it to the test.
The games I tested this headset on was America's Army and Joint Operations: Rising Typhoon.
In both tests, the surround sound was really just front, back, left, and right; pretty standard. The transition between them was not smooth; it would shift to the next.
The differentiation between left and right wasn't completely distinctive either.
Trying it against one of my favourite movies, Black Hawk Down, the 3D wasn't clearly distinguishable either.

Stepping away from features of the headset, the audio quality was above average. The bass strong and fair, but it didn't thunder. The treble was crisp and loud. Evidently, the overall sound quality was very balanced.

The microphone is easily swivelled to the required height, and half way down, you can bend the microphone towards or away from your mouth. The microphone also does fair in regards to noise-cancellation. It won't block out all of the noise, but it does a good job on the most part.

If you're looking for a nice comfortable headset that will keep your ears warm in Winter while you sit down and enjoy easy listening, then look no further; these headsets provide it all. The adjustable microphone and the long cord makes it easily connectable while providing you great ability to position yourself at a comfortable distance. Just bear in mind that this is no absolute solution to your 3D audio needs, but it will provide you powerful stereo with some thump in it.
