Though celebrating it a bit early due to time constraints, my two friends Alice and Jennifer celebrated their 21st birthday Friday 9th at the Phoenix bar. Opinion of the bar; ok place, but bad customer service.
This was a joint birthday party so we had friends from both sides coming; around 50 people turned up, and it was great catching up with old friends I hadn't talked to for a while.
Before heading to the party, we went to a restaurant near Melbourne University called Garage, where you can drive in and park your car into it also.
Garage was a nice place, decorated with wooden outdoor furniture, and some pool tables for those who want to relax; popular place amongst the university students as it was right next to their building.
After dinner, we went down to Phoenix to get started. People started showing up around the 7:30 - 8:00pm time, and we all mingled for a while.
Finger foods were brought out for us to enjoy while we waited for more people to turn up and the activities and speeches.
Once ready, we had a couple of activities; best dressed and lucky dip.
Unfortunately the best dressed was rigged, but we still had our laughs and fun out of it seeing who would win.
One of my friends Joe, male, won 3rd place for best dressed female, so we wonder who played the joke on him.
The lucky dip also had it's little moments wondering who'd win, but some people didn't remember their own numbers so when they were called out, they missed out.
We then gave our speeches, and I gave mine for Alice, and it was down to the birthday cake.
It was a nice night of celebration to see our friends growing up and finally reaching adulthood.
I have another one coming up soon and I'm hoping I'll see some more familiar faces I hadn't seen for a while too.
